Judean desert: Wadi Tekoa

Tekoa is located at the edge of the Judean desert, 15 km south of Jerusalem, a local desert due to Mediterranean winds by the Dead Sea.

Its proximity to Jerusalem and its many water sources have allowed many opponents of different historical periods to find refuge in this region : David hiding fromSaul, revolts against Rome etc....

It is also in these sites where were built the earliest Christian Byzantine monasteries for example, Haritun Monastery located above the Tekoa canyon.

Karst phenomenon of dissolution of limest one by waterdug created a large number of caves, thus the largest cave in the Middle East also located in the Wadi (canyon) of Tekoa.

Come and take a walk in these landscapes of wild beauty, enjoy the silence and the vastness of the desert, the views are breathtaking.
